Bhakti: Chants & Mantras for the Heart

Bhakti—the yoga of the heart—is a reminder to feel deeply into the powerful rhythm that moves through everything we do, that sets the tempo of our every action. Chanting is like a love letter to our life. We’ll gather in community to fortify the nervous system through the vibration of chanting. We’ll activate our voices, bring them alive, and learn the ancient mantras, purāṇas (myths), and deities all while chanting from the heart.

Sunday Yoga to Serve Your Soul

Yoga church is in session! This is your Sunday mindfulness, movement, and message that will free your mind and serve your soul. Join Donny for his annual Sunday Service-inspired yoga flow that is the PERFECT way to start your final day at the festival.

We will begin class with a grounding meditation and continue into a Vinyasa Flow with the intention of "Service" and taking your yoga off of the mat and sharing it with the world. It's the yoga on the mat and off that serves our soul and sets us free. With each movement we will cultivate a sense of selflessness and compassion, knowing that the practice of yoga extends far beyond the boundaries of our mats.

This balanced, grounded, and heart-opening practice will remind you why we practice yoga, leaving you feeling inspired to step up, show up, and be of service to a world that needs your light. Together, let us embrace the true essence of yoga – union, connection, and service to all beings.

The Tao of Yoga

In the high country of Colorado, the vitality of nature is everywhere evident. In the Far East, the force behind all nature is known as the Tao. The Tao is said to be always changing and like moving water, flows naturally and  spontaneously. In this class we yoke to the vital Tao by honing the prana or chi. Like water flowing through the ravines, creeks and valleys of Telluride, we enhance the pathway of blood, lymph and nerve through stretching and flowing movements. Using arcs, curves, spirals and elliptical movements, we express the force, dynamism, and intelligence of water. In this class, Tias weaves in verses from the Tao te Ching in order to embody the poetry, wisdom,  and spiritual guidance that the Taoist teachings provide.

Learning to Soar: Discovering the Language of Aerial Yoga - [$]

Every yoga practice has a beginning. Aerial Yoga is no exception. Whether new to this style of yoga or a wisened practitioner, this session will focus on the language of aerial yoga through a beginner's “mind”.

Soaring for the very first time, at this moment, we will root ourselves into aerial yoga’s language within the field of longevity.

Grounded in the traditions of Hatha Yoga, we will first explore the nuances of aerial yoga postures, where the hammock becomes a partner in assisting body and breath movement, in forward folds, arm balances, twists, standing balances, inversions, and reclined positions.

Once discovered, known as the way of the aerial hammock, the way will become the roots for finding depth in our stretches, elongation in our muscles, opening in our hearts, decompression in our spines, and rejuvenation in our Souls. Once discovered, we will find clues to the way this practice assists us at any age in supporting our longevity and what that might mean in individual and collective development. No experience is necessary.

Reset & Recalibrate with Forest Bathing

During this 1.5-hour immersive your guide, Glenda Russell, offers guided sensory meditation and prompts to engage deeply with sensory experiences, which can activate the parasympathetic nervous system and provide relaxation and restoration to the body. The prompts also encourage people to remember their connection to nature, fostering deeper relationships and healthy connections with the natural world.

This immersive involves very minimal walking. During the event, participants will alternate between gathering as a group and wandering about exploring on their own in the Aspen groves nearby with suggested prompts provided by your guide. This intimate gathering allows for rest and recovery after a stimulating day.

The concept of forest bathing is derived from the Japanese practice known as Shinrin-Yoku, which means "forest bath" and involves immersing oneself in the forest atmosphere (without actually bathing). It is a practice aimed at improving health, wellness, and joy by spending time in nature. Forest bathing combines elements of meditation and nature connection, helping to quiet the monkey mind or mental chatter and focus on the sensations experienced by the body in the present moment. With deep roots derived from Daoism and Zen Buddhism, we surrender to the flow of the rhythm of nature by slowing down and allowing.

Difficulty: Easy
Elevation Gain: not much :)
Time: Approx.1.5 hours round trip
Note: This session starts and ends in the Mountain Village.

Tea and Tarot

The Tea Ceremony is a perfect elemental art. Silently, we drink tea from ancient trees grown in reverence. In this special space, we give the water, fire, and tea leaves a chance to communicate with us in their subtle and silent tongue. Old-growth trees have been taking in sunlight, rainwater, and starlight for hundreds of years. Drinking tea from their leaves in a ceremonial space allows us access to parts of our hearts that we usually cannot reach.

This practice pairs perfectly with tarot. After the tea ceremony (three bowls of tea in silence), we draw cards for the entire group and then for the individuals present who want personal readings.

Tarot card reading is like looking at oneself through the clarifying reflection of an intuitive friend. In these sessions, you are invited to participate as Jade interprets the tarot cards you draw from their deck. Tarot is not about reading the future or divining destiny. The cards are a set of elemental archetypes so ancient and true that we find ourselves magnetized to those that speak to our present situation.

You will leave this session feeling honored and held in reverence. A practice of tea ceremony and tarot can allow you to feel reconnected to your intuition. The elemental realm is already working on your behalf to create what your higher self desires. When we listen to the heart’s wisdom, we open to following the watercourse way toward what is in our highest potential.

SUP Yoga: Tending to the Garden - [$]

Join yoga and meditation teacher and mentor, Mary Susan Stults for a yoga practice on the water, and a moment to slow down with ourselves as we tend to the garden of the being. As yoga practitioners and students, each time we step onto the yoga mat, and each time we live our practice off the mat, we are taking that opportunity to tend to the garden of the self and to give ourselves, our practice, and our life greater attention, awareness, compassion, care, acknowledgment, and love. Meet Mary Susan on board for an inner exploration, and a little gardening out in nature for the body, mind, and spirit.

What to Bring: Please bring a hat, swimsuit, water-wicking layers or yoga clothes you like to practice in, water, and sunscreen.

To add this to your schedule, please purchase a $30 SUP or Aerial Yoga Add-On ticket here.

SUP Yoga: Sunday Afternoon Flow to Close the Weekend - [$]

Join us to re-remember and celebrate our innate wholeness, resiliency, and strength. We'll gather this summer on a Sunday afternoon to take our yoga practice to the water for a soulful and heartfelt workshop and flow on Elk Lake as we seal the learning, connection, contentment, and peace from a weekend well lived.  As my teacher and mentor Maty Ezraty used to say, “Keep in mind that when you practice yoga, you're not practicing to improve yourself. You are perfect. The practice is there to help you know that.” And together, for an afternoon we'll do just that, we'll make space and time to practice, re-remember, and sit in the beauty and goodness of our true nature.

What to Bring: Please bring a hat, swimsuit, water-wicking layers or yoga clothes you like to practice in, water, and sunscreen.

To add this to your schedule, please purchase a $30 SUP or Aerial Yoga Add-On ticket here.
